Ken Yashiki has reconsidered Kimekomi, a textile technique unique to Japan, as a painting technique, and is practicing a new form of pictorial expression.

Based on his own experience, Yashiki reinterpreted Kimekomi, which has its roots in the Edo period and was born by using scrap wood from temples and shrines for dolls, and narrowed down the materials used to old clothes and scrap materials to the original owners. While drawing on organic elements such as physicality, time, and the sense of life that originate from the ancient Japanese culture, we are replacing the culture and values unique to Kimekomi and traditional crafts, which are used to express prayers and wishes, into the present age through painting.
