He creates mainly black woodblock prints that search for the roots of phenomena occurring in the present in the past, and portend dark clouds hanging over the future. His woodblock prints, which incorporate a variety of motifs on a single screen, are manga-like and nonsensical, and although they are monochromatic in black, he uses a wide range of shading to experiment with a variety of expressions, and skillfully expresses risky themes through sharp lines drawn with a carving knife. In his works, Kazama explores the mysteries of modern society and
He tries to capture scenes in which the hard-to-look-at reality of history sometimes appears humorous or comical. This reflects the artist's awareness of wanting to be an observer rather than a participant in society. Although his works are fictional, he conducts thorough original research, including studying ancient books, in creating them, carving out the dark secrets of reality and history, excavating lies from truth and depicting truth from lies.
