Nowadays, we are able to draw and view pictures using electronic devices such as computers and tablets. In this day and age, I began to question the necessity of paints for drawing pictures and drawings.
So I decided to focus on the material called paint and create a work that would take advantage of the properties of paint.
In my main series, "Peel off the pain," I focus on the characteristic of paint to adhere to the support, and use a unique technique in which I deliberately peel off the paint that would normally adhere to the canvas.
In these works, I liken the canvas and paint to a window and a curtain. I peel off the paint that was supposed to be on the canvas, and then I see the colored surface that remains on the canvas as the view seen through the window. I am interested in how the colors used and the shape of the peeled paint change into various scenery and things felt by the viewer, and I continue to create these works.
