Contemporary artist. After graduating from the Glass Course of the Department of Crafts at Tama Art University, she joined metaPhorest (biological/biomedia art platform) and began practicing artistic expression using living materials. She is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, University of Tokyo (Yasuaki Kakehi Laboratory), and will become an assistant professor at the Faculty of Information Sciences, Toyo University from 2025.
I have been creating glass sculptures utilizing techniques from scientific glassmaking, and conducting research and creating artworks using biological and organic matter analysis and image analysis. In recent years, I have been collecting and cultivating multiple species of true slime molds, including wild species, and using them in my artwork and experiments.
The main theme is to reconsider the boundaries between nature/society and self/other, and to re-examine the act of creation and production not as the subject giving shape to material, but as a process in which multiple systems interact with each other, emerging in a synchronous/asynchronous manner.
