Thanks to the development of social media, we can now connect with others anytime. However, I feel lonely in my daily life. While diversity is talked about, in this age where we don't deeply interact with others, relationships between people feel thin and fragile.
Feeling a disconnect between myself and society, I have been creating works based on my personal experiences and emotions as a way to heal myself while confronting myself.
The characters that form the core of my work have been familiar to me since I was a child. As a child, I often watched videos and drew pictures on my 3DS, so I feel like my original experiences are rooted in both the real world and the digital world.
Influenced by this, I have created works based on my childhood memories of analog experiences and the visual images I became familiar with through the internet in the 2010s (such as fan art illustrations on social media).
Furthermore, the characters I create represent a safe haven and a friend within my heart. By collaging characters and motifs, or layering them in a way that resembles a child's scribbles, I create works that are like a "lucky charm" Sobani Ite when you feel anxious.
Furthermore, as I move back and forth between digital and analog textures, I am drawn to states where the boundary between what is on the screen and reality becomes blurred. For example, I have explored this gradation by layering paint on paper that has a digital image printed on it, or by reproducing uniform digital lines using analog methods.
I want to share the "gentle world" of my artwork, which I created to heal myself, with more people by showcasing my work across various disciplines, not just as two-dimensional pieces, but also as installations and booklets.
