Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 2004.
My work primarily involves oil paintings of characters and drawings using pencils and ballpoint pens, using original characters as a medium to explore the distance between myself and others, and the nature of existence. My central character, "Hajikaku-chan," a blue-haired character with animal ears, was born as an "other" who was not myself, a character I connected with by chance due to my discomfort with my gender. By continuing to draw her, confronting her as a being that is different from myself while also having some similarities, I capture the ever-changing relationships and distances between us.

In my creative process, I move back and forth between drawing and oil painting, using lines, shapes, and physical sensations that arise unconsciously as clues to depict my characters. The drawings are not preliminary sketches for illustrations, but rather important creative processes for exploring the sensations and discoveries that arise from the act of drawing lines itself. I then develop what I gain from these drawings into oil paintings, attempting to make the characters exist not merely as illustrations or images, but as distinct entities within the painting.

Furthermore, putting into words the insights I gain through my relationship with the characters is also part of my creative process. I reinterpret what I create through drawing using words, and then draw again. Through this repetition, I gradually deepen my own understanding and my perception of the characters. Through my work, I want to consider not only the distance between myself and the characters, but also the distance that each viewer feels between themselves and the work and the characters. By re-examining the distance and relationships with those who are close to me, I hope to create an opportunity to think about distance itself, something we don't usually consciously consider.
