His father is a Bizen ware artist, and clay has been his toy since he was a child. He dreamed of making pottery in the future, and that dream has never wavered. He majored in sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts because he wanted to create original shapes. He also went to a glaze school in Kyoto because he wanted to learn the principles of color development and research how many different colors could be produced from clay.

His signature work, "Torso," is a flower vase with a human body motif; when you put flowers in it, the flowers become a face and the piece is complete. No glaze is used, and the blue color emerges as if it is welling up from the clay through mixing and firing in the kiln, so no two pieces are ever the same. I want to create Bizen ware that you can tell is my work at a glance. When I create my works, I feel like I am making objects that can be used.
