Born in 1978 in Lund, Sweden. David Stenbeck, a poet, literary critic and editor, uses 3D software to create digital artworks that visualize the world of poetry he envisions.

With the worldwide spread of Instagram, which mainly posts images in the latter half of the 2010s, and the improvement of 3D software rendering technology, which made it possible to express highly realistic textures, artists who post CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) as artwork on the web will appear. Stenbeck is known as one of the leading figures in the early days of CGI art.

Since 2019, he has been creating works using melancholic poems such as "Jesolo Clouds", which is a iKON work with clouds and pink laser motifs, "I MISS YOU ALL" and "WISH YOU WERE HERE".

"Baby boomers have destroyed the planet, and now people are about to be killed intellectually by social media. Then all that's left is to joke. It's like a clown generation." David's work has gained strong support, especially among young people, and currently has 267,000 followers (@dovneon) on Instagram.

In his work, which blurs the boundaries between reality and unreality, conscious and unconscious, he questions old structures and concepts based on an analysis of Western historical culture. In the visual arts, which are modern translations of classical motifs, we can see the influence of Caravaggio's chiaroscure technique and the film director Pasolini.

In recent years, we have screened the motion work "Ultra Havn" on the big screen in New York Times Square and planned the online exhibition "CANCELLED DATE S". He has also done a lot of commission work with COSMOPOLITAN MAGAZINE and fashion brands, and in 2023, he held his first solo exhibition "Dreamscapes" in Japan at SNOW Contemporary (Tokyo), which attracted a lot of attention.

Born in 1978 in Lund, Sweden, Stenbeck has worked as a poet, literary critic, and editor. He eventually started working with 3D modeling software to visualize the world he depicts in his poetry. These works are often fantastical and seem to present “dreamscapes.” The landscapes depicted in his works, from the sky and clouds to mountains and seas, are all created using computer generated imagery (CGI). They give the viewers the illusion which blurs the boundaries between reality and unreality, and consciousness and unconsciousness.

Stenbeck comments on his artworks as follows:

“Setting classical art history as its base, my practice updates old conventions into something more contemporary and approachable by questioning the conventional structures and concepts. While referring to the sublime ideal of the Old World and deconstructing its motifs before the viewers’ eyes, I let the human body and other figurative forms guide the viewers to help the viewer focus on the composition.”

As Stenbeck mentions above, his artworks are created by extracting universal elements from classical art and reviving them in this contemporary era. He has also actively posted his works on Instagram under the account “dovneon,” which now has more than 260,000 followers. He collaborates with a number of fashion brands and companies around the world, and is increasingly gaining attention internationally.
