"Thailand, what's going on?" is a group exhibition introducing nine contemporary Thai artists working in a variety of media, including performance, painting, drawing, sculpture, craft and installation.
The exhibition offers a multi-layered and nuanced portrait of contemporary Thailand from each artist's unique perspective. Rather than presenting a single narrative, it unfolds through a diversity of voices, perspectives, and methods. Each work touches on themes such as war, historical trauma, everyday life, gender Identity, memory, and the shifting dynamics of politics and power, prompting a broader dialogue about the current state of Thai society.
The very title itself, in the form of a question, symbolizes both urgency and an open stance: it aims to invite the viewer into the complex reality that lies beneath the surface expression, not to present definitive answers but to provide a platform where questions, contradictions, and possibilities can coexist.
