Yuzuho Matsuoka

松岡 柚歩

  • ART FAIR - PICK UP ARTIST
Born Hyogo in 1996. In 2021, he completed the master's course at Kyoto University of the Arts, majoring in oil painting.
By painting a lattice pattern with acrylic paint on a square canvas and partially placing abstract colored surfaces on it, he creates paintings that approach the workings of human vision. At first glance, the work, which has a pop image due to the high saturation and brightness of the design, has the impression of a three-dimensional work due to the layers created by overlapping, and makes us reconsider the relationship between the viewer and the painting.
Major exhibitions include 2023 solo exhibition “Redundant Moon” (CANDYBAR ALL, Tokyo), solo exhibition “Looking into the sky through the eye of a needle” (FOAM CONTEMPORARY, Tokyo), “Kyoto Art for Tomorrow 2023 Kyoto Selected Exhibition” (Kyoto Prefectural Museum of Culture, Kyoto), 2022 Solo Exhibition “outline” (WATOWA ALL ERY/elephant studio, Tokyo), Solo Exhibition “Piece and Hall” (haku kyoto, Kyoto), 2022 “ARTISTS’F” AIR KYOTO 2022” (Kyoto Museum of Culture Annex, Kyoto), etc. Major awards include the 2021 “ART AWARD TOKYO MAR UNO UCHI 2021” Proactive Award, and the 2020 “Shell Art Award 2020” Student Special Award.
