「LIGHTS vol.1」

東京・西麻布の夜を灯す企画展「LIGHTS」を二会期にわたり開催いたします。
第一会期「LIGHTS_vol.1」では、自然の風景や環境をモチーフにしながら表現として光を用いるとともに、日本の伝統や伝統技法と向き合い創作活動を行う、大澤巴瑠、岡田佑里奈、國本怜、品川亮、西村大樹、能條雅由 6名の気鋭作家の作品を展示・販売します。※一部作品販売に関しては申込制

展覧会初日である2月7日（水）には、オープニングプレビューを実施いたします。オープニングプレビュー当日は、作家の在廊、併設するバーでもスペシャルなメニューを提供いたします。

“LIGHTS”, the exhibition lighting up the night in Nishi-Azabu,Tokyo, will be held for two terms.
“LIGHTS_vol.1″ will exhibit and sell works by six up-and-coming artists: Tomoharu Osawa, Yurina Okada, Rei Kunimoto, Ryo Shinagawa, Hiroki Nishimura, and Masayoshi Nojo, who use light as an expression while using natural scenery and environment as a motif, and work with Japanese traditional culture and techniques. (*Application is required for the purchase of some of the works)

An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, February 7, the first day of the exhibition. The artists will be present at the opening reception, and special meals will be served at the bar.

大澤巴瑠／HAL OSAWA

「onomatopoeia」2023年／onomatopoeia” 2023

1997年東京都生まれ。2020年多摩美術大学美術学部油画科卒業。
2022年京都芸術大学大学院芸術研究科美術工芸領域油画科修了。
『複製』という行為にあえてわたしはバグを起こす。この行為によってコピーをしたはずが、印刷物は別のオリジナルに変容してしまっている。私はデジタルの複製をアナログで複製することにより、価値の曖昧さを作品に仮託し、可視化した作品を制作している。（大澤巴瑠）

Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1997, She graduated from Tama Art University in 2020 in oil painting and completed her MFA at Kyoto University of Art and Design in 2022.
“I dare to make a bug in the act of “reproduction”. My “reproduction” transforms

岡田佑里奈／YURINA OKADA

「Morse 01.」2024年／Morse 01.” 2024

1995年兵庫県生まれ。2018年京都造形芸術大学 卒業。
2020年京都造形芸術大学修士課程修了。
絵画、そして写真の領域を横断しながら次世代にあるべき平面作品の可能性について問いを投げかけます。 草花や同世代の女性を被写体にした写真を転写の技法によって平面化し、そこに現れたクラックに塗料を流し込むというプロセスを経過する彼女の作品は、写真と絵画の双方の工程を含みながらも、しかしそのどちらにも傾かず、それらはむしろ物体の強度と 精緻さを手仕事によって丹念に突き詰めるという、どこか工芸的な性格を伴いながら新しい領域を示唆しています。その固有のマチエールはロシア・アバンギャルドの作家らのような、表面効果への工夫を思い起こさせる一方、岡田が作品について「全ては朽ちていく、という考えがある」と話しているように、そこには岡倉天心が茶湯文化に指摘した「不完全性の美」のような茶湯的、日本的な美学にも通ずる精神があると言えるでしょう。

Born in Hyogo, Japan in 1995, She graduated from Kyoto University of Art and Design in 2018 and completed her MFA at Kyoto University of Art and Design in 2020.
Crossing the realms of painting and photography, she poses questions about the possibilities of two-dimensional works for the next generation. Her works, which include both photographic and pictorial processes, do not lean toward either of them, but rather, they are somewhat of a craftsman’s character in which the intensity and precision of the object is carefully investigated by handwork. Rather, they suggest a new territory with a somewhat craft-like character, in which the strength and precision of the object is painstakingly explored by hand. While their unique matiere recalls the ingenuity of Russian avant-garde artists for surface effects. As Okada says of her works, “I have the idea that everything decays”, the spirit that her works express is also shared by the tea ceremony and Japanese aesthetics, such as the “beauty of imperfection” that Tenshin Okakura pointed out in the tea ceremony culture.

國本怜／RAY KUNIMOTO

「SHIZUKU#1, #2, #3 」2021年／SHIZUKU#1, #2, #3 2021

1991年NY出身、東京育ち。2017年よりNY、2021年より東京で活動。慶應義塾大学文学部美学美術史専攻卒業。
独自の立体音響システムやテクノロジーを駆使し、体験者の振る舞いと空間を密接に関係させるインスタレーション作品を制作する。「静寂」をテーマに日本の伝統的美意識と現代のテクノロジーを結びつけ、サウンド制作やエンジニアリング、彫刻、空間設計など様々な領域を横断し、新しい音響体験を提示する。
日本、アラブ首長国連邦、台湾、アメリカをはじめとし世界各地でサウンドインスタレーション作品を発表、ライブパフォーマンスを行なっている。 

Born 1991 in New York and raised in Tokyo. Worked in NY since 2017 to 2021 and now works in Tokyo. Graduated from Keio University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Aesthetics and Art History.
He creates installation works that closely relate the space to the behavior of the viewer by using unique stereoscopic sound systems and technology. With the theme of “silence,” he
combines traditional Japanese aesthetics and contemporary technology to present a new acoustic experience, crossing various disciplines such as sound production, engineering, sculpture, and spatial design.
He has presented sound installations and live performances in Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Taiwan, the United States, and elsewhere in the world.

品川亮／RYO SHINAGAWA

「白椿」2024年／White Camellia, 2024.

画家。1987年生まれ、大阪府出身。京都を拠点に活動。
東洋絵画の技法をベースに、文化的な歴史を再考しながら、現代美術の流れを組み込むことによって、グローバリズムと時代性を併せ持つ現代絵画の可能性に挑戦しています。今、この時代を生きている僕にとって「リアリティのある本質的な絵画とは何か」という問いを投げかけながら、寺院などの日本建築、掛け軸や襖絵といった空間を使った表現にも積極的に取り組み、制作しています。 主な個展に、「Re:Action」(福田美術館パノラマギャラリー/京都)、「Ryo SHINAGAWA」(Eslite Gallery/台北)など。また、日本航空株式会社、タイガー魔法瓶株式会社、翠嵐ラグジュアリーコレクションホテル京都などコミッションワーク多数。

Born in 1987 in Osaka. Works in Kyoto.
“Based on the technique of oriental painting, I challenge the possibility of contemporary painting that combines globalism and timelessness by rethinking cultural history and incorporating contemporary art trends. Asking the question, “What is the essential painting with reality for me living in this time?”, I actively engages in and produces expression using Japanese architecture such as temples, and spaces such as hanging scrolls and sliding door paintings.” (Ryo Shinagawa)
Major solo exhibitions include “Re:Action” (Fukuda Museum of Art Panorama Gallery/ Kyoto) and “Ryo SHINAGAWA” (Eslite Gallery/Taipei). He has also done commission work for Japan Airlines Corporation, Tiger Thermos Corporation, Suiran Luxury Collection Hotel Kyoto, and many others.

西村大樹／DAIKI NISHIMURA

「ガラスの上の春」2023年／Spring on the Glass” 2023

画家。1985年大阪府生まれ。2011年大阪芸術大学大学院芸術研究科博士課程前期修了。

2010 年以来 13 年間京都の法然院 で、2012 年以来 11 年間大阪の spectrum gallery で、毎年個展を開催。2022 年に画集 『雲の中の虹 西村大樹 2020-2022』出版。 2023 年に東京日本橋三越コンテンポラリー ギャラリーで 個展「Bird’s eye view – To recollect what we remember: Part2」開催。 2023 年に Watowa Art Award 審査員賞(高 橋隆史賞)受賞。日本、フランス、シンガポ ール等でグループ展に出品。

Born in Osaka in 1985, He graduated from Osaka University of Arts in 2011 with MFA in Fine Arts.
He has held solo exhibitions every year at Honen-in Temple in Kyoto for 13 years since 2010 and at Spectrum Gallery in Osaka for 11 years since 2012. His art book “Rainbow in the Clouds Nishimura Taiki 2020-2022” was published in 2022. In 2023, he held a solo exhibition “Bird’s eye view – To recollect what we remember: Part 2” at the Mitsukoshi Contemporary Gallery in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. In 2023, he won the Watowa Art Award Jury Award (Takashi Takahashi Award). He has exhibited in group exhibitions in Japan, France, Singapore, and other countries.

能條雅由／MASAYOSHI NOJO

「Mirage #84」2023年／Mirage #84″ 2023

1989年生まれ、2015年に京都造形芸術大学（現：京都芸術大学）大学院修士課程日本画専攻を修了。コンテンポラリーな表現と日本美術の美学を融合した独自の表現方法で、人々の記憶や時の流れといったテーマを追求。 大学在学中、社会における記憶（集合的記憶）に興味を持ち、様々なメディウムや技法でその追求を行ってきた。また、創作から恣意性を取り去るために、写真を取り入れたミクストメディアによる表現方法として、記憶のイメージを構成する最小単位としての色とフォルムを写真から抽出し作品に反映させている。 撮影した写真を分解・再構築し、銀箔の表現に落とし込むことによって、写真は持っていた事実性や具体性をなくし、誰もが何処かで見たことがあるようなぼんやりとした印象を作品に与える。このような独特な方法でつくられた作品は、鑑賞者の深くにある記憶と結びつき、心の中に“ある既視感”を生む。

Born in 1989, completed his MFA in Japanese painting at Kyoto University of Art and Design in 2015. With a unique method that combines contemporary expression and the aesthetics of Japanese art, he pursues themes such as people’s memories and the passage of time. While at university, he became interested in memory in society (collective memory) and has pursued this interest through a variety of mediums and techniques. In order to remove arbitrariness from his creations, he uses mixed-media expression that incorporates photography, extracting colors and forms from photographs as the smallest units that make up the image of memory. By deconstructing and reconstructing the photographs and incorporating them into silver foil, the photographs lose their factuality and concreteness, giving the works a hazy impression that everyone has seen them somewhere before. The works created in this unique way connect with the viewer’s deepest memories and create a sense of “déjà vu” in the mind.
