YUKIHIRO TAKAHASHI

1952年東京生まれ。
16歳の頃からスタジオ・ミュージシャンとしてプロの活動を初め、1972年、加藤和彦率いるサディスティック・ミカ・バンドに参加。1974年発表のセカンド・アルバム『黒船』は、プロデューサーにクリス・トーマスを迎え、欧米でもリリースされた。また、1975年には、全英ツアーを行うところまでに至ったが、帰国後、解散。
1978年、細野晴臣、坂本龍一とともにYellow Magic Orchestra（YMO）を結成。２度のワールド・ツアーとライブ盤を含む６枚のアルバムを残し、内外の音楽ファン、そして広い意味でのクリエイターに多大な影響を残して、1983年末、散開。その後、1993年の一時期再活動をし、2000年代に入ってからは不定期にライブを中心とした活動を続けている。

ソロとしては、1978年の1st.アルバム『Saravah！』以来、2018年リリースの『Saravah Saravah!』まで通算24枚のオリジナル・アルバムを発表している。この『Saravah Saravah!』は、自身のソロ活動40周年を記念し、1st.アルバム『Saravah！』のヴォーカルをリテイクし、ミックスダウン＆マスタリングを新たに施したものである。

ソロ活動と併行して、バンド、ユニット活動も盛んに行なっており、1981年スタートの鈴木慶一（ムーンライダーズ）とのTHE BEATNIKSや、元JAPANのスティーブ・ジャンセンとのPULSE（1997）、細野晴臣と組んだSKETCH SHOW（2001）、原田知世や高野寛、高田漣らとのpupa（2008）、元スマッシング・パンプキンズのJames Iha、Curly GiraffeらとのIn Phase（2012）、そして2014年には、小山田圭吾、砂原良徳、TOWA TEI、ゴンドウトモヒコ、LEO今井とともにMETAFIVEを結成している。もともと、一夜限りのスペシャル・セッションとして集まったMETAFIVEだが、その模様を収録した2014年のライブ・アルバム、次いで2016年のオリジナル・フルアルバム、ミニ・アルバムをリリース。2021年には、５年ぶりの新作となる2nd.アルバム「METAATEM」を発表する。

2008年より、東京・夢の島にて開催の音楽野外フェスティバル 『WORLD HAPPINESS』のキュレーターを務めた。このフェスティバルは10回に渡って連続開催されたが、2019年には青森県八戸市でスピン・アウトのスペシャル・イベントとして開催された。

音楽家としての顔を持つ一方、Bricks、Bricks-Mono、YUKIHIRO TAKAHASHI COLLECTIONという自身のブランドを持っていたほどに、ファッションについての造詣も深い。YMO代表的なアイコンとして知られる赤い“人民服”も高橋のデザインによるものである。また、ファッション・デザイナー、山本耀司との親交も深く、1980年代後期からおよそ10年に渡って、不定期ながらYohji Yamamotoのパリ・コレクション用の音楽を手がけた。

趣味はもっぱら釣り。海の磯釣り、川のフライ・フィッシング、ともに長いキャリアを持つ。



Born 1952 in Tokyo, Japan.
He started his professional career as a studio musician at the age of 16, and in 1972 he joined the Sadistic Mika Band led by Kazuhiko Kato, whose second album "Kurofune" was released in Europe and America in 1974 with Chris Thomas as producer. The band toured the UK in 1975, but broke up after returning to Japan.
In 1978, together with Haruomi Hosono and Ryuichi Sakamoto, they formed Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO), which toured the world twice and released six albums, including a live album. The group re-formed for a time in 1993, and has continued to perform live on an irregular basis since the beginning of the 2000s.
 
As a solo artist, he has released a total of 24 original albums, from his first album "Saravah!" in 1978 to the release of "Saravah Saravah!" in 2018." Saravah Saravah!" is a retake of his first album "Saravah!" with newly vocal recorded, mixed down and remastered vocal tracks to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his solo career.
 
In addition to his solo career, he has also been active in bands and units, such as THE BEATNIKS with Keiichi Suzuki (Moonriders), which started in 1981, PULSE with Steve Jansen (1997), SKETCH SHOW with Haruomi Hosono (2001), and pupa (2008) with Tomoyo Harada, Hiroshi Takano, Ren Takada and others, In Phase (2012) with James Iha (ex-Smashing Pumpkins), Curly Giraffe and others, and in 2014, METAFIVE with Keigo Oyamada, Yoshinori Sunahara, TOWA TEI, Tomohiko Gondo and LEO Imai. After a live album in 2014, an original full-length album and a mini-album in 2016, METAFIVE released their new second. album "METAATEM" in 2021.
 
Since 2008 he has been the curator of WORLD HAPPINESS, an open-air music festival in Yumenoshima, Tokyo. The festival has been held 10 times in a row, and in 2019 it will be held as a special event in Hachinohe, Aomori.
 
In addition to being a musician, Takahashi also has a deep knowledge of fashion, having had his own brands such as Bricks, Bricks-Mono and YUKIHIRO TAKAHASHI COLLECTION. He also designed the red "people's clothing" that has become one of YMO's most famous icons. He was also a close friend of fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto, and for about ten years from the late 1980s he worked irregularly on music for Yohji Yamamoto's Paris collection.
 
His hobby is fishing. He has a long career in both rock fishing in the sea and fly fishing in the river.
