1995年東京都生まれ。幼少期より海外を転々とし、日本以外の国で過ごす中でアーティスト活動を開始し、2021年にオスロ国立芸術大学大学院美術研究科で修士号を取得。
土を使った美術的な探求は日本の原点であると考え、自身にとって特別なメディウムである土を視覚的な表現手段として用いた幅広いスケールでの立体作品を制作している。また、窯の中での物質的な変化を捨象せずに受け入れる表現により、海外と日本を往復するうちに抱いた「自分が日本人の変異種のような」感覚を、植物の細胞に見られる変形現象「綴化」と重ね、その美しさを作品に投影している。2023年からは絵画作品も発表している。
近年の主な個展に｢土遊び｣(THE LOOP GALLERY､東京､ 2023年)､Colorflow(Ram Galleri、 オスロ、ノルウェー、2023年)､ Iro-toridori(Format Oslo、オスロ、ノルウェー、2022年｣など。
Born in 1995 in Tokyo, Japan, Takumi Morozumi graduated from Alfred University in 2019 with a BFA and received his MFA from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 2021. Believing that artistic exploration using clay is deeply rooted in Japanese art tradition, Takumi creates sculptures of various scales using clay. By embracing the material changes that occur in the kiln, he expresses the sense of being an “abnormal Japanese," a feeling he has always had throughout his life living long abroad. He metaphorically draws a parallel to the phenomenon of “fasciation” seen in plant cells and projects its beauty into his works. Since 2023, he has also been presenting paintings. Recent solo exhibitions include “Clay Play” (THE LOOP GALLERY, Tokyo, 2023), “Colorflow” (Ram Galleri, Oslo, Norway, 2023), and “Iro-toridori” (Format Oslo, Oslo, Norway, 2022).
