1992年沖縄・宮古島生まれ。静岡文化芸術大学卒。
禅僧であり民俗学者でもある祖父を持ち、禅や仏教文化に親しみながら幼少期より書道を始める。
禅や沖縄の精神文化を背景に現代的で型に縛られない自由なスタイルで、伝統的な書に新たな光を当てている。オールドファッションな書道を飛び越え、形式にとらわれない軽やかで、身体性、空間性を伴ったコンテンポラリーな表現を追求する。
2017年10月PlaymountainTokyoにて初個展「Surprise」、2018年TRUNK HOTELロビーのインスタレーション、2021年12月「JINEN」UNION SODA（福岡）、2023年10月に初の海外個展をロサンゼルスのALTA Gallery から行なった。「tricot COMME des GARCONS」21AW、「TAO COMME des GARCONS」23SSに作品が起用、2021年「 HERMES 」制作のドキュメンタリーフィルム「 HUMAN ODYSSEY 」に出演。2022年5月「PALI GALLERY」を故郷の宮古島にオープンした。
BORN IN 1992- Daichiro Shinjo is an artist modernizing traditional Japanese calligraphy shodō, pursuing unconventional light and contemporary expressions. Born in Miyako Island (Okinawa) he began shodō at the age of four and inherited the influences of Zen philosophy and Okinawan spiritual culture from his grandfather, a zen monk and revered folklorist in Japan. Daichiro graduated from the department of Space Design at Shizuoka University of Art and Culture, and currently resides and works from his studio in Miyako Island.
