音楽家、サウンドアーティスト。「See by Your Ears」主宰。
既存のフォーマットに依拠しない立体音響システムを駆使し、その場所固有の響きの中で音を編み上げる独自の“空間的作曲”によって、聴覚の潜在的な可能性をひらくインスタレーションを展開。無響室から庭園、廃墟、公共空間、美術館や劇場まで、多様な空間で作品を発表し国際的に高い評価を得ている。2025年、空間音響芸術に対する先駆的な探求と、サウンドアートの可能性を広げた功績により、国際賞アルス・エレクトロニカ 2025 冨田勲特別賞（Isao Tomita Special Prize）を受賞。2026年、令和7年度（第76回）芸術選奨 文部科学大臣新人賞を受賞。
主な個展に「evala 現われる場 消滅する像」（NTTインターコミュニケーション・センター [ICC] , 2024）など。その他、養老天命反転地、世界遺産・薬師寺、東京都庭園美術館、十和田市現代美術館、Sonar（スペイン）、SXSW（アメリカ）、国立アジア文化殿堂（韓国）、ENNOVA ART Museum（中国）などで、目には映らない独創的な作品を展開する。

「芽吹き」を意味する《Sprout》は、形状の異なる無数のオリジナルスピーカーが、それぞれに異なる音を響かせながら空間全体に有機的な音の生態系を創り出す立体音響作品です。鑑賞者はその音の群れの中を自由に歩き、全身で体感します。
MYAF2026バージョンとして展開するevalaの《Sprout》シリーズ最新作に、ウィーンと東京を拠点に活躍するソプラノ歌手・田中彩子が登場します。本作では、世界でも数少ない超高音域を持つ田中彩子の様々な声の録音とともに、人の声の可能性を拡張する新たな音響空間を生み出します。

田中彩子
18歳で単身ウィーンに留学。22歳でスイス・ベルン州立歌劇場にて、同劇場日本人初、かつ最年少でソリスト・デビューを飾る。
その後、ウィーンをはじめロンドン、パリ、ブエノス・アイレスなど世界各地で活躍。
ソプラノの中でも特に高い音域を誇るコロラトゥーラ・ソプラノとして、澄み渡る歌声と卓越した技巧で高い評価を得ている。
2019年、Newsweek誌「世界が尊敬する日本人100」に選出。アルゼンチン最優秀初演賞受賞。英国BBC Music Magazineで5つ星を獲得。

evala is a Japanese sound artist and composer. At the core of his artistry is the project “See by Your Ears,” which presents new auditory experiences to awaken the inherent, dormant potential of human hearing. The practice centers on “spatial composition”: utilizing 3D sound systems that transcend existing formats, he composes and weaves sound within the site-specific resonances of each location, transforming environments into installations that melt sensory boundaries.
His work has been presented globally in diverse settings, including anechoic chambers, gardens, ruins, public spaces, museums, and theaters. For his visionary exploration of spatial sound art within a vision-centric world and his role in democratizing it, evala was awarded Isao Tomita Special Prize at Prix Ars Electronica in 2025. He was further honored with the Ministry of Education’s Art Encouragement Prize in 2026, recognizing his pioneering contributions as a leading figure in contemporary sound art.

The latest installation of evala's “Sprout” series is presented as the MYAF2026 version, featuring soprano singer Ayako Tanaka.
Ayako Tanaka
Ayako Tanaka is a Coloratura Soprano. She moved to Vienna at the age of 18 and made her soloist debut at the Bern State Opera in Switzerland at 22. Known for her exceptionally high, crystalline coloratura voice, she has performed internationally in Vienna, London, Paris, Copenhagen, Buenos Aires, and beyond. Her recordings have received international acclaim, including a five-star review from BBC Music Magazine and the Best Premiere Award in Argentina.
