기존의 가치관이나 사회적 시선에 의해 규정되어 온 '미'와 '추', 또 '여성'과 '남성'의 경계에 내재하는 흔들림이나 모순에 주목하여 그 양의적인 방식을 식물과 꽃, 여성의 모습을 통해 표현한다.
표현 매체는 회화에 머무르지 않고, 사진, 영상, 인스톨레이션 등 다양한 미디어를 횡단해, 단일의 시점에서는 파악할 수 없는 현실의 복잡함에 응답해, 그 본질을 떠올리게 한다. 최근의 제작에서는 가족이나 친구 등 친밀한 타인과의 관계성에서 나타나는 질문을 기점으로 하고, 개인의 기억이나 역사를 마주하고, 침묵 속에 놓여져 온 말이나 감정에 빛을 비추는 작품을 전개하고 있다. 개인적인 영역에 그치지 않고, 사회에 내재하는 구조적 과제에 접속해, 새로운 대화의 가능성을 열심히 시도이기도 하다.

Focusing on the instabilities and contradictions inherent in the boundaries between “beauty” and “ugliness,” as well as “femininity” and “masculinity,” which have been shaped by existing value systems and social gazes, the artist expresses their ambivalent
such as plants, flowers, and the female figure.
Extending beyond pain ting, the practice traverses diverse media such as photography, video, and installation, responding to the complexity of reality that cannot be captured from a single perspective, and carefully bringing its essence into view.
In recent works, the artist takes as a point of departure questions that emerge from relationships with close others, such as family and friends, engaging with personal memories and histories while shedding light on words and emotions that have been left beh the personal realm, but seek to connect with structural issues embedded in society, opening up possibilities for new forms of dialogue.
Major exhibitions include VOCA 2026 (The Ueno Royal Museum, VOCA Prize), Opening Dialogues: Sayaka Toda — Blooms in Silence (Yokohama Museum of Art, 2025), and TOKAS Emerging 2024 — “Echoes of the Unspoken: The Silent Voongs others.
