"haneto," a collaboration track with MONKEY MAJIK featuring and sound-produced by Tomonari Sora, will be released digitally on Tuesday, July 29th.
This collaboration came about after Tomonari Sora covered "Sora wa Marude." MONKEY MAJIK, who have primarily focused on self-production, resonated with Tomonari Sora's musicality and expressiveness, and entrusted him with the sound production, resulting in this song.
The title "haneto" refers to the dancers who jump and dance to the music at the Aomori Nebuta Festival. Inspired by the Nebuta Festival, a symbol of Aomori, the birthplace of MONKEY MAJIK, the song blends the festival culture of Tohoku, which is the root of both artists, resulting in a vibrant and energetic festival song.
Furthermore, this song will also be included in MONKEY MAJIK 15th original album, "Frequency," which will be released on September 2nd (Wednesday).

MONKEY MAJIK have been my idols since I was a child, listening to their music on my boombox and Walkman. It feels like a dream to finally have the opportunity to write a song with them. Inspired by the festivals of Tohoku, our respective roots, and the dancers of the Nebuta festival, we brainstormed ideas one after another in our group chat, creating the song with the same enthusiasm as when we were kids making things. It's a fantastic festival, a fusion of MONKEY MAJIK 's unique aesthetic and sound with my own Japanese elements. Please join us in jumping and dancing!

That was the beginning of "haneto".
I've always been drawn to Tomonari's original sense and expressiveness, and I had a hunch that "combining his sensibilities with our music would definitely be interesting," so I asked him to handle the sound production this time.
The rally with Tomonari was incredibly stimulating, and he inspired us to create more and more melodies and lyrics.
The way Tomonari's sensibility seamlessly blends nostalgic Japanese aesthetics with contemporary, real-world sounds created an incredible chemical reaction that we couldn't have achieved on our own.
The motif for this piece is the Aomori Nebuta Festival, which is also the birthplace of our group. We hope that the energy of that festival, which captivates people all over the world, will come across in this work.
