PROFILE

The MC name SKY-HI comes from the meaning: High as the sky with infinite possibilities. With his outstanding rapping, dancing, and vocal skills, SKY-HI has performed and established a substantial presence across different music genres. His performances have gained the spotlight not only in the hip-hop community but also in the rock and subculture music world. He stands as the glowing center of his 16-member band SUPER FLYERS, a full band with a DJ, four dancers, and two background vocalists, during his wildly popular shows that always sell out. He works on everything from the band music, production, and lights in his shows. His music pieces are mapped out meticulously and always come with a strong message. He also uses his genius as a lyric-writer to weave together his own songs. As a professional entertainer, SKY-HI has drawn recognition from inside and outside the music industry, with songs brimming with originality and unparalleled perfection.

He made his debut as a member of AAA in 2005 and has since been working on his career as a rapper under the name of SKY-HI in various hip-hop clubs around Tokyo. While privately participating in battle rap challenges and giving live performances at clubs, he released the CD "FLOATIN’LAB," a collaborative project featuring various singers in 2012. In June the same year, he put on an event to celebrate the release. After appearing in shows with KREVA and other musicians, he won the Best of Rapper award at the WOOFIN’ AWARD 2012.
In February 2013, he set off on his first nationwide tour "SKY-HI TOUR 2013 The 1st FLIGHT," made a major debut from a major record label with his single "Ai Bloom / RULE" in August, and released his first album "TRICKSTER" the following March. In June, he won the MTV VMAJ 2014 BEST HIP HOP VIDEO Award.
In 2015, he went on the nationwide tour "SKY-HI TOUR 2015 -Ride my Limo-," and returned for a series of encore shows with his first Zepp music hall tour "SKY-HI TOUR 2015 -Ride my Limo2-" in December of the same year.
In January 2016, SKY-HI released his second album "Catharsis". Many of the shows for his first-ever music hall performance "SKY-HI HALL TOUR 2016 -Ms. Liberty wo Sagase-" were completely sold out.
In January 2017, he launched his third album, "OLIVE." He set off on the "SKY-HI HALL TOUR 2017- WELIVE-" tour from March, where the 2 final shows during his first stint at the Nippon Budokan were a great success. Starting in October, he held the "SKY-HI Round A Ground 2017," which included tours abroad.
In March 2018, he launched his best album "Best Catalyst," a sole collection of his latest and previous collab hits. In June, 3,000 fans gathered in front of the Gundam Statue in Odaiba, Tokyo, to celebrate the launch of "Snatchaway / Diver's High," released in partnership with the Gundam game and anime series. In August, he released his self-produced mixtape "FREE TOKYO"for free download, and appeared at many major music festivals such as the "ROCK IN JAPAN FES." "SUMMER SONIC 2018," and the "SWEET LOVE SHOWER 2018." In December of the same year, he launched his fourth album "JAPRISON," and won the BEST HIP HOP VIDEO award at the MTV VMAJ 2018 for the album "Marble" that he released the previous year.
In 2019, SKY-HI released "New Verse -Remix-" featuring eill in February, and "Chit-Chit-Chat" in March on digital distribution. He embarked on his nationwide tour "SKY-HI TOUR 2019 -The JAPRISON-" from February. Amid his busy schedule, he expanded his artistic and professional scope, rocking the runway with other musicians and artists at the Rakuten GirlsAward 2019 SPRING/SUMMER. In August, he appeared at the halftime show of the J-League professional football match between SAGANTOSU and VISSEL KOBE, and the leading music festivals "ROCK IN JAPAN FES." and "MUSIC CIRCUS' 19." He released his second collaborative album with SALU in September of the same year and held a tour around Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka with the album. He wrapped up the year 2019 with the two-day "SKY-HI Round A Ground 2019" at the Toyosu PIT. "COUNT DOWN SKY-HI" on the first day featured a never before done setlist of fans' requests and "YO! SKY RAPS" on the second day featured guest artists from both home and abroad.
In January 2020, his single "Don’t Worry Baby Be Happy" featuring STAMP, a popular singer-songwriter in Thailand, was released on digital distribution. He set off on the "SKY-HI Round A Ground 2020," a nationwide live music club tour and tour around Asian cities from March. He will appear in the ASO ROCK FESTIVAL 2020 and METROCK 2020 for the first time in May.
