1991년 도쿄 출생. 와세다대학 사회과학부 졸업.
주요 메디움인 네온관을 특유의 방전 발광을 내포하는 '현상의 표본'으로 파악하고, 외형을 만드는 유리 공예에서 진공과 전기 등 과학 기술의 엔지니어링까지 일관되게 다룬다. 공예영역에서는 일본 유수의 네온관기공사에 인정되어 네온사인 기술의 계승에도 임한다.
유리의 형상과 내부의 플라즈마가 만들어내는 조형을 통해, 안과 밖의 관계성을 주제로 하는 작품을 제작하는 것 외에, 발광체의 주역인 희가스를 개입시켜, 에너지 자원의 지배/비지배라고 하는 부감적인 테마에도 마주해, 빛의 정서성을 살린 다양한 어프로치를 탐구하고 있다.
Born in Tokyo in 1991. Graduated from the School of Social Sciences at Waseda University.
He regards neon tubes, his primary medium, as “specimens of phenomena” that embody their characteristic discharge glow, and handles the entire process from shaping the glass through traditional craftsmanship to engineering the vacuum and electrical technologies in as one of Japan's leading neon tube artisans and is engaged in preserving and passing on neon sign techniques.
Through forms shaped by glass and the plasma with in, he creates works that explore the relationship between interior and exterior spaces. At the same time, by working with noble gases — the key agents of illumination — he addresses broader, overarching themes such-s as the control pursuing diverse approaches that highlight the emotive qualities of light.
