石塚源太

1982년 교토부 출생. 나무의 수액인 옻칠에 그 표정이 사는 형태를 주고, 옻나무가 만들어내는 피막에 촉각이나 신체성을 투영해, 옻나무의 새로운 지각 체험을 모색하고 있다.
2007년부터 개인전에서 작품을 발표하는 것 외에 「도약하는 제작자들」(교토시 교세라 미술관, 2023년), 「옻칠 분노-현재를 달려가는 쫀칠 표현-」(이시카와현 와지마 칠예 미술관, 2023년), 「제4회 넘어가는 공예”(가나자와 21세기 미술관, 2019년), “Hard Bodies” (미네아폴리스 미술관, 미국, 2017년) 등 국내외 그룹전에 참가. 2024년 제42회 교토부 문화상 장려상. 상, 교토시 예술 신인상 수상 작품은 미네아폴리스 미술관(미국), 빅토리아 & 앨버트 박물관(영국), 대영 박물관(영국), 교토시 교세라 미술관 등에 수장되어 있다.

Born in Kyoto in 1982, he creates his own work using urushi lacquer, which is a refined sap extracted from trees. In pursuit of a new perceptual experience through urushi, he explores forms that bring out the unique texture of lacquer and reflecting tactile quality and corporeality in the lacquer membrane.
He has contributed to exhibitions including Visionaries: Making Another Perspective, the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art (2003); Shippudoto, Wajima Museum of Urushi Art, Ishikawa (2023); the 4th Triennale of KOGEl in Kanazawa KOGEl as Contemporary Craft: Transcending Boundaries, 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa (2019) and Hard Bodies, the Minneapolis Institute of Art (2017). He was awarded the Incentive Prize, The 42nd Kyoto Prefectural Culture Prize in 2024, the grand prize at Loewe Foundation Craft Prize and the Best Young Artist Award from the City of Kyoto in 2019. His works are in the collection of the BritOC Museum Museum, and more.
