음악가, 사운드 아티스트. 'See by Your Ears' 주재.
기존의 포맷에 의거하지 않는 입체 음향 시스템을 구사해, 그 장소 고유의 울림 속에서 소리를 짜내는 독자적인 “공간적 작곡”에 의해, 청각의 잠재적인 가능성을 열어 설치를 전개. 무향실에서 정원, 폐허, 공공공간, 미술관과 극장까지 다양한 공간에서 작품을 발표해 국제적으로 높은 평가를 얻고 있다. 2025년, 공간 음향 예술에 대한 선구적인 탐구와 사운드 아트의 가능성을 넓힌 공적에 의해, 국제상 아르스 일렉트로니카 2025 토미타 이사다 특별상(Isao Tomita Special Prize)을 수상. 2026년, 령화 7년도(제76회) 예술선장 문부과학대신 신인상을 수상.

「싹트」를 의미하는《Sprout》은, 형상이 다른 무수의 오리지날 스피커가, 각각에 다른 소리를 울리게 하면서 공간 전체에 유기적인 소리의 생태계를 만들어 내는 입체 음향 작품입니다. 감상자는 그 소리의 무리 속을 자유롭게 걸어 전신으로 체감합니다.
MYAF2026 버전으로 전개하는 evala의 "Sprout"시리즈 최신작에 비엔나와 도쿄를 거점으로 활약하는 소프라노 가수 다나카 아야코가 등장합니다. 본작에서는, 세계에서도 몇 안되는 초고음역을 가지는 다나카 아야코의 여러가지 목소리의 녹음과 함께, 사람의 목소리의 가능성을 확장하는 새로운 음향 공간을 만들어 냅니다.

18세에 단신 비엔나에 유학. 22세에 스위스 베른 주립 가극장에서 동극장 일본인 첫 최연소로 솔리스트 데뷔를 장식한다.
그 후, 비엔나를 비롯해 런던, 파리, 부에노스 아이레스 등 세계 각지에서 활약.
소프라노 중에서도 특히 높은 음역을 자랑하는 콜로라투라 소프라노로서 맑은 가성과 탁월한 기교로 높은 평가를 얻고 있다.
2019년, Newsweek 잡지 「세계가 존경하는 일본인 100」에 선출. 아르헨티나 최우수 초연상 수상. 영국 BBC Music Magazine에서 5성을 얻었습니다.

evala is a Korean sound artist and composer. At the core of his artistry is the project “See by Your Ears,” which presents new auditory experiences to awaken the inherent, dormant potential of human hearing. The practice centers on “spatial composition existing formats, he composes and weaves sound with in the site-specific resonances of each location, transforming environments into installations that melt sensory boundaries.
His work has been presented globally in diverse settings, including anechoic chambers, gardens, ruins, public spaces, museums, and theaters. For his visionary exploration of spatial sound art with in a vision-centric world and his role in democratizing it, eva Ars Electronica in 2025. He was further honored with the Ministry of Education's Art Encouragement Prize in 2026, recognizing his pioneering contributions as a leading figure in contemporary sound art.

The latest installation of evala's “Sprout” series is presented as the MYAF2026 version, featuring soprano singer Ayako Tanaka.
타야카 아야코
Ayako Tanaka is a Coloratura Soprano. She moved to Vienna at the age of 18 and made her soloist debut at the Bern State Opera in Switzerland at 22. Known for her exceptionally high, crystalline coloratura voice, she has performed internationally in Vienna, London, recordings have received international acclaim, including a five-star review from BBC Music Magazine and the Best Premiere Award in Argentina.
