■About the work
This work was created using Sarugakuzuka, an ancient tomb built in the 6th century in Sarugakucho, Shibuya Ward, as the medium for the world of the work.
It is said that the area around Sarugakuzuka has been a burial ground for people living in the area since the Yayoi period. Books from the Edo period (Edo Meisho Zue/Edo Sunako) contain a legend that Minamoto no Yoritomo once held a Sarugaku (the prototype of modern-day Noh) performance here and buried the equipment used for the performance, and that a rich man from Shibuya used to hold banquets with the local residents here and enjoy themselves, which is why the area was nicknamed "Kogakuzuka" (Going Away from My Pain).
We will be exhibiting a VR piece called "Mujin Mujyu" (Endless, Beginningless), which is based on the Noh play "Sotoba Komachi" and continues to circle every 15 minutes, tracing the evolution of the human body and cognitive awareness under natural science.
