They met in a club at Waseda University and reunited after graduation to form a band.
The six-piece band consists of three MCs, a guitarist, a bassist, and a track maker/DJ. The band name "asobi" comes from the fact that they started out as a "play" on their days off.
In June 2020, they released the three-song single "asobi," their first release to feature their band name in the title. The following year, they released "Empty Room for Two," which was featured on various playlists and gained attention. Since then, they have been playing heavily on FM radio stations and have been performing live regularly, mainly in Tokyo.
In January 2025, they released their first full album "JUNCTION," which includes 12 songs, including "Hurts So Good," which was used as WEB commercial song for Yamazaki Industries' "tower" series, and the lead single "Dolphin Dance." They also embarked on their first solo tour of Tokyo and Osaka, with their performance at Shibuya WWW being SOL DOUT.
The sound work that only asobi can produce, which combines the lyrics woven by the three MCs with the tracks and live instruments and multiple layers of gimmicks, is gaining more and more supporters.
