Drawing inspiration from ancient documents and museum collections, he creates paintings with a contemporary interpretation. While also paying attention to the treatment of supports and materials, he questions the relationship between image and matter, exploring the existence of a light and unstable "pure image."
This time, alongside works with historical motifs, we will also be exhibiting paintings with the theme of "fruit." While antiques are preserved and passed down, fruits are a part of everyday life, but will eventually lose their shape. This transience indicates a different time axis from antiques that remain as records.
Through motifs that harbor two different qualities of time, the artist brings to light subtle shifts and overlaps of time within the painting format.
I use a transparent acrylic sheet as the physical support for my expression. The clear support allows light to pass through the thinly spread paint, and the curved surface gives the painted image a lighter feel.
