  • ART FAIR - MEET YOUR ARTISTS -CROSSOVER-
Goyoung's work begins with collecting fragments of images. This collection method is based on "pareidolia," or the unconscious process of association. When the artist finds meaning in amorphous images such as clouds, stains, and traces that suddenly appear in everyday scenes, he takes them as clues to a new scene. The captured fragments of images are not limited to simple shapes or similarities, but are constructed as a function.

Goyon translates these fragments into characters, symbols, and scenes, and as their roles interrelate and clash, they form new scenarios. They become myths, tales, or scenes in an unfinished story. Goyon's paintings do not present a central narrative or story. Rather, they construct new stages with fluid roles and loose connections. The harmonious scenes, made up of fragments each assigned a role, quietly contain another myth that transcends fixed meanings.
