ART EXHIBITION
A five-member artist collective that uses a variety of techniques, including painting, installation, video, performance, and theater, while negotiating with visual and performing arts systems and conducting sociological and folkloric fieldwork. The members are Toru Inoue, Takafumi Saito, Yoshiro Hasegawa, Megu Ninja, and Jang-Chi. In stage sets that are symbolic of modern Japan, they present works that physically question alienation and oppression from the perspective of the repetitive structure of history. They shake the foundations of various communities and bring to light the thoughts, customs, languages, and lifestyles that support them. Exhibitions they have participated in include "Aomori EARTH 2019: A Place to Cultivate Life - The Future of Art Opened by Agriculture" at Aomori Museum of Art (2019), Busan Biennale (2016), and "Visceral Sensation - The Voice of the Living, Distant and Close" at 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa (2013). His performances include YPAM Direction, ROHM Theatre Kyoto, KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre, Seoul Marginal Theater Festival, etc. He was the recipient of the 14th Taro Okamoto Award (2011).
