  • ART FAIR - CROSSOVER
Megumi Imai was born in Nara Prefecture and completed her Master's degree at the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2019.

After working in London, Tokyo, and Slovakia, he is currently based in a studio in Ibaraki Prefecture.

His ideas stem from the human error (misprints) that occur during the silkscreen printing process, which involves the physical act, and he creates works that explore the themes of "how we perceive things" and "choosing a perspective."

His recent works include series such as "patterns" and "diamonds," in which he improvises and repeats unexpected images through the act of printing, "shadows," in which he places plants and other objects on a table to create the image of false shadows, and "mirror (stripe)," in which he silkscreen-prints striped patterns onto a mirror. All of these works approach the mechanisms of cognition that arise from human vision and experience.
