Born in Tokyo in 1983. Artist. Ph.D. in Fine Arts. He studies painting and explores the temporality and emergence of human production (poiesis) using biological systems and philosophy of science as a theoretical background. As can be seen in his masterpiece "Textile Paintings," he expresses self-organizing processes and patterns through paintings and drawings. In recent years, he has continued to expand the field of expression by collaborating with scientists, such as pattern recognition and generation of AI and exploring the emotional understanding Thailand human AI. In 2010, he won the SHISEIDO ART EGG Award. 2010-11, MA Fine Art Course, Chelsea College, University of the Arts London, In 2015, he completed a doctoral program at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, majoring in oil painting (mural painting). From 2015 to 2017, he stayed in Vienna as an overseas trainee for emerging artists of the Agency for Cultural Affairs (Visiting Researcher at the Inter-University Cultural Philosophy Laboratory). As of 2024, he is a visiting associate professor of comparative literature and culture at the University of Tokyo, and a part-time lecturer at the Department of Film and Visual Arts, Musashino Art University, and the Graduate School of Tohoku University of Art and Design.

Born in 1983 in Tokyo. Artist. Ph.D. in Fine Art. Murayama, who studied pain ting, explores the temporality and emergence of human acts of creation (poiesis) with in the theoretical frameworks of biological systems and the philosophy of science. As seen in his representative series Woven Paintings, Murayama expresses the processes and patterns of self-organization through his drawings and pain tings. In recent years, Murayama has extended his artistic endeavors by collaborating with scientists on AI pattern recognition and generation. These collaborations aim to deepen human understanding of and sensitivity towards artificial intelligence. In 2010, Murayama received the shiseido art egg prize. From 2010 to 2011, he attended the MA Fine Art program at Chelsea College of Arts at the University of Arts London as an exchange student, and in 2015, he received his Ph.D. in Oil Painting from the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Fine Arts. From 2015 to 2017, Murayama was a visiting researcher in the Global World/Intercultural Philosophy course at the University of Vienna as a participant in the Program of Overseas Study for Upcoming Artists, sponsored by the Japanese government’s Agency for Cultural Affairs. Murayama is currently a Guest Associate Professor of Contemporary Thought and Philosophy at the University of Tokyo and a Part-time Lecturer in the Department of Imaging Arts and Sciences at Musashino Art University and the Graduate School of Tohoku University of Art & Design.
