松川広己

Born in Aichi in 1958. After graduating from Musashino Art Junior College, he studied under Yuri Matsuyama of Mino ware and Shiho Kanzaki of Shigaraki ware. He then worked on Shigaraki ware in Shiga Prefecture before moving to Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture. His participation in the Sue ware restoration project in 2016 led him to dedicate himself to recreating ancient Sue ware.
Incorporating various pottery techniques cultivated over the years, and through trial and error, he creates pottery aiming to replicate the ancient Sue ware unearthed from the Kanpu ruins. In particular, his works, which deliberately apply the concentric circle pattern—usually used as a lining on the inside of jars and other vessels—to the surface, create a unique expression reminiscent of water ripples or the Seigaiha wave pattern.
