Born in Miyakojima, Okinawa in 1992. Graduated from Shizuoka University of Art and Culture.
His grandfather was a Zen monk and a folklorist, and he began practicing calligraphy at an early age while being familiar with Zen and Buddhist culture.
With a background in Zen and the spiritual culture of Okinawa, he sheds new light on traditional calligraphy with his modern, unconstrained and free style. He goes beyond old-fashioned calligraphy and pursues contemporary expression that is light, unconstrained by form, and incorporates physicality and spatiality.
In October 2017, he held his first solo exhibition "Surprise" at PlaymountainTokyo, followed by an installation in the lobby of TRUNK HOTEL in 2018, "JINEN" at UNION SODA (Fukuoka) in December 2021, and his first overseas solo exhibition at ALTA Gallery in Los Angeles in October 2023. His works were featured in "tricot COMME des GARCONS" 21AW and "TAO COMME des GARCONS" 23SS, and he appeared in the documentary film "HUMAN ODYSSEY" produced by "HERMES" in 2021. In May 2022, he opened "PALI G ALL ERY" in his hometown of Miyakojima.
Born in 1992, Daichiro Shinjo is an artist who modernizes traditional Japanese calligraphy shodō, pursuing unconventional light and contemporary expressions. Born in Miyako Island (Okinawa), he began shodō at the age of four and inherited the influence of Zen philosophy and Okinawan spiritual culture from his grandfather, a zen monk and revered folklorist in Japan. Daichiro graduated from the department of Space Design at Shizuoka University of Art and Culture, and currently resides and works from his studio in Miyako Island.
