Born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1983. Graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Arts, Osaka University of Arts in 2006, and completed graduate studies in painting at the Kyoto City University of Arts in 2008. Currently works in Shizuoka.
Kazeno meticulously and boldly develops his works, sublimating his own experiences, sensations, and emotions into a new world that transcends time and space.
A major characteristic of Kazeno's work is that he first paints over the canvas with layers of paint and then paints new motifs on top of it. The hidden, disparate layers are delicately interconnected, creating an elegant complexity. Kazeno himself states that "the image is one in which things that happened a long time ago, things that most people no longer remember, are trapped inside the canvas, and a new story emerges, drawing those things into its very essence."
It is as if the present is made up of overlapping memories, time, and stories from the past, and through this process, a spatial complexity emerges on the screen that is neither floating nor overlapping, and cannot be captured by the expression of depth (Mitsue Nagaya, "Perspectives on Contemporary Art: VOCA Exhibition 2009" catalog).
The texture possesses a luster reminiscent of porcelain or metalwork, and a layered quality similar to embroidery or textiles, yet viewers will be amazed to discover that it is achieved solely through the delicate brushstrokes of acrylic paint.
His major solo exhibitions include "I Can Go There. You Can Too" (Tomio Koyama Gallery Kyobashi, Tokyo, 2026), "Born for This" (Tomio Koyama Gallery Tennozu, Tokyo, 2024), and "Something Like Prayer" (Shibuya PARCO Meets by NADiff, Tokyo, 2020). His major group exhibitions include "NEW NATURE" (PATERSON ZEVI, London, 2020), "The Place of Painting" (Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery, 2014), and "VOCA Exhibition 2009" (Ueno Royal Museum, 2009).
His works are held in the collections of Aman Tokyo, the Japigozzi Collection (Switzerland/USA), the Takahashi Collection, Takamatsu Art Museum, and Montblanc GBU Japan.
