  • ART FAIR - MEET YOUR ARTISTS -CROSSOVER-
While studying sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts, Yasui delved deeply into sculptures from classical to modern times, including those by Michelangelo and Rodin, while also being exposed to trends in contemporary art, primarily from Europe and the United States. He began creating sculptures from plaster and fabric during his student days, attracting attention, and he also uses this original technique to create paintings with a distinctive sense of volume. While many painters of his generation compete with the texture of paint, Yasui is establishing a unique style of expression by using sculptural techniques to approach the support of paintings. His uniquely Japanese sensibility and modern, open expression resonate with a wide range of people.
Since 2021, he has been involved in the planning, management, and production of the "Coastline Museum" project in Ogatsu Town, Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, which involves painting murals on a huge seawall that was erected after the Great East Japan Earthquake.
