statement
I am interested in and create vessels that are made only to be displayed and not used, even though they are in the form of vessels intended to be used. For example, excessively decorated vases that are not suitable for use.
In Japan, as a new framework for art is being created, such strange existences are being recognized and accepted without any sense of incongruity.
I create these "vessels" with the idea of how to make them even stranger and more interesting.
By enlarging, cutting, or compressing decorative motifs applied to vessels, I explore forms that go beyond the framework of a "vessel" and are "but not a vessel."
