NEORT++, an exhibition space specializing in digital art and media art in Makuicho, Tokyo, will be holding a special exhibition titled "monos," which focuses on the uniqueness of the digital.
"Monos," meaning "single/single" or "unique" in ancient Greek, is a project that aims to create unique artworks using digital technology, offering viewers "digital art that can only be enjoyed at that moment." While digital data can typically be copied and reproduced infinitely, this project deliberately limits the creation and output to a one-off, endowing the digital with the value of uniqueness and originality. This project challenges the concept of monotypes (one-of-a-kind prints) in printmaking to the digital realm. By using a system that does not store the data after creation but only outputs it immediately, we have achieved "digital images that appear and take shape only in that moment." These works combine the ephemerality of a live performance with the uniqueness of a unique piece that can only be owned by the person who acquires it, and despite being digital art, they are sure to exude an aura. Participating artists will be announced in due course.
