We started in 2020 as a commercial gallery under the concept of crossover. We aim to become a place that functions beyond time and space by finding aesthetic sensibility hidden like dots in things that at first glance seem unrelated in each field, connecting those dots through exhibitions to make lines, and conducting experiments to make them three-dimensional. In this way, we hope that what artists express as if responding to the era and society in which we live will be interpreted by someone somewhere, beyond culture, country, and time, and that the works created by the artists will become a perceptual reference book for that person to unravel the era and society in which the artist lived. We believe that sometimes they will become signposts and footprints for humanity, and cultivate the world so that humans can become more human.
Furthermore, we believe that artists need an environment in which they can continue to express themselves without rest, and that such an environment can only be fostered through the chemistry between the various stakeholders, including gallerists, curators, critics, collectors, and those who will become such figures in the future.
Based on this idea, Marco Gallery is working to foster this movement, with an eye to the future.
Specifically, under the concept of crossing disciplines beyond culture, country and time as mentioned above, our gallery currently participates in art fairs such as Art Taipei and Art Freeze together with artists, both young and mid-career, who have their sights set on the global stage. In Japan, we have set up a venue in Shinsaibashi to hold exhibitions and cultivate an environment of high sensitivity to art across generations. Through direct dialogue with viewers on-site, we convey the artist's ideas and their relationship to current society. We also build relationships with residency programs and send artists there, with the aim of becoming a place where surrounding fields can be expanded without being bound by frameworks.
