大野 修

Born in 1981, from Fukuoka. Studied sculpture expression at Kyushu Sangyo University and completed graduate school at Tokyo University of the Arts.
During his studies, he focused on researching sculpture using stone as the main material, constructing motifs that make him feel the influence of academic forms and music, and creating a sense of tension that shakes up the state of contemporary sculpture. produce works.
Considering the "impulse" that arises from within as an important element, his three-dimensional works are characterized by using artificial materials such as waste wood and concrete, while maintaining the strength of "things" that are not frivolous.
In 2012, he moved to New York, where he created his current bricolage production style by using materials such as discarded items collected in the city and large trees that had been cut down for safety. In 2015, he moved to his hometown of Fukuoka and set up a studio in a corner of his family's concrete product factory. At the exhibition in Kitakyushu in 2020, he presented a concrete work weighing more than 3 tons.
